AQUACULTURE
Farming is where we begin.
From stocking young eels to raising and shipping them, farming is part of Hongping’s daily work.
From stocking to grow-out
Eel farming is the foundation of our business. Hongping operates 8 hectares of eel farms, raising mainly Japanese eel.
After stocking, we raise the young eels for about a year until they reach the required sizes.
Our staff feed the eels themselves. They observe feeding responses and eel condition each day and adjust husbandry as needed, alongside water quality and rearing environment management.

Growth and size management
Individual eels grow at different rates during grow-out.
As the eels grow, we grade them by size several times, separate them into different ponds and adjust husbandry for each stage of growth.
Separating eels into ponds during grow-out and grading them to order before shipment help us track growth and size distribution in each pond and plan shipments accordingly.

Experience built on the farm
Conditions and growth patterns vary from one farming cycle to the next.
We adapt our work to the condition of the eels, from monitoring feeding and pond water to deciding when to separate ponds or ship.
This experience informs how we understand eel growth, sizes and husbandry, and how we arrange distribution and supply.
